about 40 minutes of writing, but I have an outline with citations for my dissertation proposal. next up is figuring out what text I can recycle and what needs to be new (also need to know how long this thing needs to be)...but I can't very well consider that "writing time." up for tomorrow, writing the study area section for my second qualifying exam/seminar paper/rice cropping system methods paper/dissertation in general.

Day 9 - Finished a solid 50 minutes of writing on the background this morning, followed by nearly two hours this afternoon. Still combing through background literature, but making a dent. More on polycentricity and spatial restructuring tomorrow. Now if only the image processing was progressing as smoothly...

Not sure how much new writing went on as opposed to copying, pasting, shuffling my NESSF proposal -- but I did do a lot of thinking about what exactly I want on this poster and how to summarize in 250 words. On the docket for tomorrow -- outlining my paper for Annemarie's seminar / thinking more about mapping cropping patterns...

Apparently I have a ghost abstract that is currently accepted for a poster at the AAG conference session Land Use and Land Cover Change, but there is no text for it yet, which I'm certain is frowned upon...better fill that in! Here we go...
